Vardy before moving to the AFL played for Vic Country at the 2009 NAB AFL U-18 Championships and finished fourth overall for hit-outs

to advantage (13) and fifth overall for total hit-outs at 59. He was then selected by Geelong as their 42nd overall pick at the 2009 National

Draft.

He made his AFL debut in Round 9 of the 2011 season against the Carlton Blues. During Round 21 of the same season, Vardy injured his hip

in a game against the Adelaide Crows and was ruled out for the rest of the calendar year.

After his injury, he finally made his return in September 1, 2012 opposing the Sydney Swans after proving he is fit to return in the VFL.
